Members of the Plus 60 Club are invited to lace up their walking shoes and celebrate the warmer weather with a Flag Day walk across the iconic Interstate 74 bridge.
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., walkers will gather to enjoy fresh air, beautiful river views, and great company while crossing one of the Quad Cities’ most recognizable landmarks. In honor of Flag Day, participants are encouraged to add a little festive spirit by wearing red, white, and blue.
This relaxed, social outing will cover about two miles round-trip, taking walkers from Illinois across the bridge to the Iowa side and back again. Along the way, participants can pause at the midpoint of the bridge near the glass oculus, where benches offer a perfect place to rest, enjoy the sweeping views of the Mississippi River, and gather for a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
The group will meet on the Illinois side in the parking lot just west of the bridge near the vacant four-story brick building. To reach the parking area from Iowa, turn north on 2nd Avenue, circle around the building, and then turn left into the gravel parking lot at the foot of the bridge.
The walk is expected to wrap up around 4:30 p.m., making it an easy and enjoyable way to spend part of your afternoon while connecting with fellow Plus 60 members. Please bring your own water bottle. A limited number of American flags will be provided for the walkers.
No registration is required for this free event. For questions, contact Jennifer, (563) 370-4412. The walk will be rescheduled for inclement weather.
